GeoFrontiers 2011

Latest News:

During the week of 26 July 2010 Dr. Barry Christopher, a past president of the North American Geosynthetics Society (NAGS) and private geotechnical consultant, and David Suits, NAGS Executive Director, presented two one-and-a-half-day short courses on "Geosynthetics in Reinforcement Applications." These sessions were presented through the Cornell University Local Roads Technical Assistance Program (LTAP).

The first session was presented in Mount Morris, New York (about 30 minutes south of Rochester) and the second in Oneonta, New York (about one hour south of Albany). Participants received instruction in geosynthetic-reinforced embankments, slopes and walls.

The sessions included a brief historical background followed by basic design principles and methods, material properties, project acceptance of materials, and construction protocols. Attendees represented local town and city highway departments, the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), and private consultants.
